ArduCAM USB camera shield is a universal camera control board which is designed for PC and embedded system like Raspberry Pi , BeagleBone and etc. It supports almost all the parallel interface image sensors range from 0.3MP ~ 14MP. The highlight of this USB camera shield is that ArduCAM offers a comprehensive SDK library for both Windows and Linux system, and even more the Python library porting is ready to work with OpenCV.

It hides the complex nature of the camera and provides the plug and play USB control interface as well as the ready to use SDK library and demo source code. User can make it works in minutes without writing a line of code. The ArduCAM supports variety camera modules from 0.3MP to 14MP with different format like RAW, RGB, YUV, JPEG.

ArduCAM USB camera shield is another product line compared to the ArduCAM shields that offer SPI interface. The USB camera shield offers speed improved performance than the SPI camera shield. It can run at as high frame rate as the USB2.0 480Mbps bandwidth allows, for instance 640×480(VGA)@60fps or 4384×3228(14MP)@2fps. By using global shutter camera headboard (like MT9V034/AR0134) together with USB camera shield, user can achieve industrial level camera for machine vision on Raspberry pi without effort.

The ArduCAM is straightforward enough that it can be easily used with an PC and other single board computers such as the Raspberry Pi and the Beaglebone. In short, the ArduCAM brings a plug and play solution to digital cameras at the hardware level.
